finding Like Minds –
“In the long history of humankind (and animal kind, too)
those who learned to collaborate and improvise most effectively have prevailed.”
– Charles Darwin
Humankind, and apparently animalkind too, was always meant to collaborate.
Just take a note from Darwin’s journal itself.
Those who, throughout time, have given their trust in others have found that the mutually beneficial relationship is enough to continue survival and even prosper.
Well, nowadays, as a marketer, you won’t exactly find me hunting and gathering for survival.
To be honest, I even use Instacart nowadays to prevent Covid exposure and save time, so I don’t even go to the grocery store very often either.
But, I digress.
What I’m trying to say is that collaboration and team-efforts are good in every sense!
Whether you hunt for food or whether you hunt for leads, working with other people can prove to further your success and chance of prospering.
So, what should you know about finding these like minds?
Let’s delve in!
1. Don’t be afraid of competition. There’s typically enough to go around.
So many people seem to sincerely fear, and maybe even resent, their competition.
What’s all that about?!
Your competition is what is driving the market.
Your competition is more likely than not who blazed the trail you’re on.
And, if not, your competition is who will keep the trail clean and kept for people to walk on for years.
This is to say..
Your competition is not your enemy.
Your competition can be your bestfriend.
You should know your competition and they should know you.
Neither of you should badmouth the other.
There is very often plenty to go around, so there’s no need to diminish the efforts of another small business owner.
Of course, you should continuously strive to be the best that you can.
However, your goal shouldn’t be to run others out of business.
That is not conscious business.
2. Actively seek other profiles that are similar to yours.
There are undoubtedly businesses and social profiles that hold similar values and practices that you do.
These businesses, whether they share the market with you or not, are bound to be beautiful connections.
This is especially true if you are a conscious business seeking other conscious businesses.
Imagine the beauty in finding another conscious business whose goal isn’t to monopolize the market, but is instead seeking to change and improve lives.
What better connection could there be?
3. Collaborate, Cooperate, Congregate.
Gather, my friends, Gather!!
Come together. Work together. Build together.
Pass leads to each other.
Share business with each other.
Give and receive benefits, advice, and knowledge.
If there’s one thing I can always remind you of..
It’s to NEVER be greedy with knowledge.
We live in the age of information. With it, access to infinite knowledge.
Don’t try hoarding the knowledge – because you simply can’t.
Instead, share the knowledge with your fellow collaborators and watch the world grow.
Create a community that you would want to be a part of.
Then, be an authentic part of it.
4. Be open to others who initiate with you first.
People seem to quite often be wary of the person who approaches them.
Yet, would you not want a sense of openness when approaching others?
You never know who can walk into your life and change it forever.
Always listen first.
People will go out on a whim to express vulnerability, and the beauty comes when you share the state of vulnerability together.
